On cold nights here in Arizona, no homeowner wants to be stuck without heat. We know how stressful it can be to find that your furnace just won’t turn on. So how do you diagnose your faulty heating system? Here are a few of the most common reasons why your furnace isn’t working:
Common Furnace Problems:
Your Thermostat Isn’t Set Properly. The first thing that you should do is check to make sure that your thermostat is set to heat and that it’s set to a temperature that is higher than the existing temperature inside of your home. It may seem silly, but this simple fix might save you a service call!
Your Air Filter is Dirty. Check the air filter inside of your furnace. This air filter should be changed or cleaned monthly. If it is dirty, the air won’t be able to heat air properly and it will not perform efficiently.
Your Circuit Breaker Tripped. Check to make sure that the circuit connected to your furnace did not trip. If it did, reset it! This may fix your furnace problem.
Your Pilot Light is Out. If you have a gas furnace, check to make sure that your furnace is lit. If your furnace does not run on gas, check to make sure that your water heater is working properly. If your pilot light is out or the water heater is not functional, your furnace’s fan will run, but not produce heat.
