Maintaining a Tankless Water Heater
Tankless water heaters have become a popular choice for many homeowners in recent years. They are efficient and can save you money on your monthly utility bills. However, like all appliances, they require regular maintenance to keep them running at their best. In this blog post, Plumbing & A/C Medic will walk you through the steps necessary to maintain your tankless water heater.
Steps 1 to 3
The first step is to turn off the power source to your tankless water heater. This can be done by flipping the switch on the breaker box or disconnecting the power cord from the outlet. Next, you will need to close the water valves that supply water to your unit. Once these valves are closed, you can remove the purge port valve caps.
Steps 4 to 6
Now it's time to attach the hosing lines to the valves. Make sure that these connections are secure before opening the purge port valves. You will now need to add white vinegar to your unit. The amount of vinegar needed will vary depending on the size of your unit. After adding vinegar, flush and drain your tankless water heater according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Steps 7 to 8
The final steps of this process will be restarting your water heater and turning on the hot water tap in your sink. Make sure you follow the manufacturer’s instructions on how to safely restart your water heater and turn your hot water on in your sink very slowly to allow the air to pass through.
